ree

At Seaport Medspa, we offer laser hair removal to safely and effectively reduce unwanted hair on areas such as the face, legs, arms, underarms, bikini line, and back. This non-invasive treatment targets hair follicles with light energy to help prevent future hair growth, offering long-term results with minimal downtime.

To achieve the best results and protect your skin, please review and follow the pre- and post-care steps below.

Pre-Care Instructions

6 Months Before Treatment

  • Accutane: If you have taken Accutane in the last 6 months, you cannot be treated. Please wait until you are fully cleared before scheduling.

6 Weeks Before Treatment

  • Waxing and tweezing: Stop waxing, tweezing, or using depilatory creams in the treatment area. Shaving is allowed and encouraged.

2 Weeks Before Treatment

  • Chemical peels and lasers: Avoid chemical peels and other laser treatments in the area to be treated.

  • Sunburns/tanning: Avoid sunburns and tans. If you arrive sunburned, your appointment will need to be rescheduled.

7 Days Before Treatment

  • UV exposure: Limit UV exposure as much as possible. Always use SPF 30+ on exposed skin.

  • Self-tanner: Stop using sunless tanning products. Exfoliate any residual product off the skin before your appointment.

  • Active ingredients: Avoid AHAs, BHAs, retinols, hydroquinone, Differin, and Tazorac on the treatment area.

  • Photosensitizing medications: Discontinue medications that increase sun sensitivity (with physician approval before stopping).

  • Cold sore history: If you are prone to cold sores, let your provider know. An antiviral prescription may be recommended.

Day of Treatment

  • Shaving: Fully shave the treatment area the day before or the morning of your appointment.

  • Clean skin: Arrive with skin that is clean and free of lotions, oils, deodorants, or makeup.

Post-Care Instructions

First 48 Hours After Treatment

  • Heat exposure: Avoid hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, and other heated environments.

First 7 Days After Treatment

  • UV exposure: Avoid prolonged sun exposure. Always use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ on treated areas.

First 14 Days After Treatment

  • Chemical treatments: Do not receive chemical peels or additional laser treatments in the treated area until the skin has fully healed.

Managing Discomfort

  • Soothing products: Aloe vera gel or ice packs can be applied to calm the skin.

  • Pain relief: Tylenol is safe if you experience mild discomfort.

Ongoing Care and Results

  • Treatment series: Multiple sessions are required for best results since hair grows in cycles.

  • Stay on track: The laser is most effective during the active growth phase, so complete your full treatment series at the intervals recommended by your provider. We encourage booking your next appointment during your visit.
