Seaport Medspa offers the following neurotoxins: Botox® by Allergan, Dysport® by Galderma and Xeomin® by Merz Pharmaceuticals. These neurotoxins work by temporarily blocking nerve signals to the muscles, reducing their ability to contract. This relaxation of the muscles leads to the smoothing of wrinkles and fine lines.
There is not anything specific you need to do leading up to your neurotoxin appointment at Seaport Medspa but after receiving this treatment it’s important to follow these post care instructions.
Facial Workout Right After Treatment
Try to exercise your treated muscles for the first hour after treatment (e.g. practice frowning, raising your eyebrows or squinting). This helps to work the treatment into your muscles.
Don’t Lie Down For 4-Hours After Treatment
Make sure that you’re not planning your neurotoxin appointment too close to bedtime, where your head needs to raised for at least 4-hours following your treatment. This also means do not bend over with your head down for an extended period of time.
No Exercising For 24-Hours
While walking is okay, patients should avoid exercise such as weightlifting, yoga, Pilates, jogging, running and other strenuous activities for at least 24-hours following their treatment.
No Hats or Headbands for 2-Days
Neurotoxin patients should avoid wearing hats or headbands for at least 2-days following their appointment.
No Aggressive Face Washing For 2-Weeks
Normal face washing is okay but you should not aggressively rub or massage the treatment area for 2-weeks. Do not use any type of vibrating/spinning facial cleansing device for 2-weeks as well.
Avoid Facials And Massages For 2-Weeks
It is recommended you do not have a facial or massage for 2-weeks after your neurotoxin treatment.
Patience for 2-Weeks
You could begin to see some results 4-days after receiving Dysport and 7-days for Botox and Xeomin treatments. It may take up to 2-weeks to see the optimal effect.
Neurotoxin Touch-Ups After 2-Weeks
It is very normal that you may need a 2-week touch up once your neurotoxin treatment has settled.
Preventing Potential Swelling or Bruising
You can apply ice, arnica, or any other anti-inflammatory topical agents to prevent and treat any swelling or bruising following your neurotoxin treatment.
Stay On Track
Neurotoxins last roughly 3-4 months. We recommend at the time of your treatment to schedule your next appointment to maximize results.
