Laser hair removal is one of the most effective ways to reduce unwanted hair long-term, but it’s often misunderstood as a one-and-done solution. In reality, it’s a medical treatment that requires a thoughtful approach, the right technology, and a provider who understands how to tailor the process to your skin and hair type.
At Seaport Medspa, we use InMode’s advanced laser hair removal platform—designed to safely treat a wide range of skin tones while offering consistent, reliable results over time.
How Laser Hair Removal Works
Laser hair removal targets the pigment (melanin) in the hair follicle. When light energy is absorbed, it heats and damages the follicle to reduce future growth. This only works when the hair is in its active growth phase (anagen)—which is why a single treatment isn’t enough.
Most patients need a series of six sessions, spaced several weeks apart, to see a significant reduction in hair. Additional maintenance sessions may be needed depending on hormonal factors, hair color, and genetics.
Why a Consultation Matters
Before starting treatment, patients meet with one of our licensed medical providers to review their medical history and determine candidacy. Certain medications, medical conditions, and recent sun exposure may affect safety and efficacy.
The consultation also allows us to explain how to prepare for treatment—such as shaving the area beforehand, avoiding waxing or tweezing, and limiting sun exposure before and after appointments. These steps help reduce the risk of irritation and improve treatment outcomes.
What Areas Can Be Treated?
Laser hair removal can be performed almost anywhere on the body where unwanted hair grows. At Seaport Medspa, patients are welcome to treat multiple areas in one session—such as full legs and Brazilian—without needing separate appointments.
Common treatment areas include:
Chin
Jawline
Upper Lip
Sideburns
Lower Face
Full Face
Neck
Armpits
Chest
Stomach
Happy Trail
Back
Arms (Half or Full)
Legs (Half or Full)
Bikini
French Bikini
Brazilian
Our team will guide you in selecting the right areas based on your goals and customize a treatment plan that fits your schedule and lifestyle.
What to Expect After Treatment
There’s no downtime, but some redness and sensitivity—similar to a mild sunburn—is common for a few hours after treatment. Over the next 1–2 weeks, treated hairs will begin to shed. Patients should avoid sun exposure, hot tubs, saunas, and exfoliating products for a few days post-treatment to prevent irritation.
It’s also important to avoid plucking or waxing between sessions. Shaving is allowed, and in fact, recommended before each treatment.
Long-Term Results
Laser hair removal offers long-lasting hair reduction, but results vary depending on skin tone, hair thickness, and hormonal influences. Most patients see a 70–90% reduction in treated areas after completing their initial series.
Some fine, light hairs may remain or regrow slowly over time, which is why occasional maintenance treatments are sometimes recommended.
If you’re considering laser hair removal, our team is here to answer your questions, assess your skin, and guide you through the process from consultation to results. With the right provider and the right expectations, laser hair removal can be one of the most worthwhile investments in your skin routine.
