Moxi Laser: Pre And Post Treatment Instructions

At Seaport Medspa, we offer the Moxi laser by Sciton, a gentle, non-ablative laser treatment designed to refresh the skin with minimal downtime. Moxi helps improve uneven tone and texture and is safe for a broad range of skin types and tones.

To achieve the best results and keep your skin safe, please review and follow the pre- and post-care instructions below.

Pre-Care Instructions

2 Weeks Before Treatment

Protect your skin and avoid anything that increases sensitivity.

  • Sun exposure: Avoid tanning beds and direct sun exposure for at least 14 days. Always wear SPF 30+ if outdoors.

  • Self-tanner: Stop using self-tanning creams or sprays for at least 14 days.

  • Waxing: Do not wax or use depilatory creams on treatment areas for 14 days.

  • Cold sore history: If you’re prone to cold sores, notify us in advance. We may prescribe an antiviral to help prevent an outbreak.

7 Days Before Treatment

Reduce your risk of bruising or irritation.

  • Blood thinners: Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, Motrin, fish oil, Vitamin E, and similar supplements unless prescribed. If you are on a prescription blood thinner, call our office to speak with a provider.

4 Days Before Treatment

Pause skincare products that make the skin more reactive.

  • Active ingredients: Stop using retinol, tretinoin (Retin-A, Vitamin A), glycolic acid, salicylic acid, AHAs, BHAs, LHAs, benzoyl peroxide, and hydroquinone.

Day of Treatment

Arrive with skin ready for your session.

  • Illness/antibiotics: If you’ve recently been sick, had a fever, or are on antibiotics, your appointment may need to be rescheduled.

  • Clean skin: Arrive with no makeup, moisturizer, or sunscreen.

Post-Care Instructions

Day 1 (Immediately After Treatment)

Your skin may feel warm, pink, or mildly sensitive.

  • Cleansing: Do not wash your face until the following morning.

  • Comfort: Mild redness, swelling, or a sunburn-like sensation is normal. Tylenol may be used if needed. Avoid scratching or rubbing the skin.

Days 2–7 After Treatment

Skin will begin its natural recovery process.

  • Cleansing: Wash gently twice daily with lukewarm water and a mild cleanser. Pat dry — do not scrub or use exfoliants, brushes, or devices.

  • Moisturizer: Apply a bland moisturizer or hyaluronic acid frequently to keep skin hydrated. Avoid essential oils or products not recommended by your provider.

  • Sunscreen: Begin daily use of SPF 30+ the morning after treatment. Continue every day without exception.

  • Products: Avoid retinol, acids, and other active ingredients for at least 7 days.

  • Itching: If itching occurs, oral Benadryl can help (note: may cause drowsiness).

After 1 Week After Treatment

You may return to your normal skincare routine if skin feels fully healed.

  • Resuming actives: Retinol, acids, and other advanced products can be restarted gradually.

  • Ongoing protection: Continue sunscreen use daily to protect results.

Ongoing Care and Results

  • Treatment series: Moxi is most effective when performed in a series of 3 treatments, spaced about 4 weeks apart.

  • Stay on track: Results build with each session, so we recommend scheduling your next appointment at the time of treatment to stay consistent.
