Seaport Medspa offers patients both JUVÉDERM®, by Allergan Aesthetics and Restylane®, by Galderma for dermal filler options. Dermal fillers are injectable substances used to restore volume, smooth wrinkles, facial balancing and enhance facial contours such as your chin and jawline.
Before getting dermal filler from Seaport Medspa it's recommended to follow the below pre and post care instructions.
DERMAL FILLER PRE-CARE
Special Event In The Next Month?
If you have a special event coming up, please keep in mind that you should schedule your treatment at least 4-weeks in advance.
Have A Cold Or On Antibiotics?
If you develop a cold, COVID, cold sore, blemish or rash in the area to be treated prior to your appointment, we recommend you reschedule your appointment until it resolves. Patients should be symptom free and off antibiotics for a full 2-weeks before receiving dermal fillers.
Auto-Immune Conditions?
Please let us know of any underlying auto-immune conditions or if you are taking any immune suppressing medications as you may not be a filler candidate or may need a signed note from your treating physician.
Dental work
Dermal filler patients should not have dental work or teeth cleanings for 2-weeks before or following a treatment. Patients should wait a full 4-weeks after having any major oral surgery or major dental work for dermal filler treatments.
No Vaccinations 2-Weeks Before Your Treatment
No vaccinations of any kind 2-weeks before or following a dermal filler treatment.
Upcoming Air Travel?
Dermal filler patients should not fly within 5-days AFTER dermal filler, so make sure to plan ahead.
reduce the risk of bruising
Patients should try to avoid drinking alcohol, taking NSAID medications (if medically safe), and taking fish oil for up to 1-week prior to treatment.
Cold Sores?
If you have a history of cold sores, we recommend you are pretreated with valacyclovir prior to your injections. Please let Seaport Medspa know if you need a prescription called into your pharmacy.
Dermal Filler Post-Care
Short Term Tenderness and Firmness Is Normal
It is normal to experience some tenderness at the treatment site for a few days. It is also normal to feel a “firmness” in your treatment area for several days – this will soften and settle leaving you with a fresh, natural looking result. It can take a several weeks for filler to fully integrate with the tissue.
Temporary Swelling
You may temporarily experience swelling following your dermal filler treatment. This should quickly dissipate following injection (within a few days).
No Rubbing or Massaging Treatment Area For 24-Hours
Do not rub or massage the dermal filler area for 24-hours following the treatment.
Avoid Exercising For 48-Hours
You may resume normal activities but we recommend you avoid strenuous exercise for 48-hours after treatment.
Avoid facial And Laser Treatments For 2-Weeks
We recommend waiting 2-weeks before receiving any facial or laser treatments.
Avoid Flying For 5-Days
Patients should not fly for 5-days after receiving dermal filler.
Dental Work
No dental work or teeth cleaning for 2-weeks following treatment. Any major dental work or oral surgery should take place 4-weeks after treatment.
No Vaccinations For 2-Weeks Following A Treatment
Dermal filler patients should avoid vaccinations for 2-weeks following their treatment with Seaport Medspa.
Something Doesn’t Feel Right Post Treatment?
Please contact Seaport Medspa right away at 617-681-8244 if you experience: a lot of pain, significant bruising, or any other unexpected side effects following your treatment.

It's important to note that dermal fillers are temporary solutions, and their effects typically last for several months to a year, depending on the type of filler used. Repeat treatments are usually required to maintain the desired results. We recommend at the time of your dermal filler treatment to schedule your next appointment to maintain your desired look.
